Mission Statement
At Mémé’s Maison Academy, our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment where every child can learn at their own pace, feel valued, and build meaningful friendships.
We believe that every student learns differently and deserves individualized support, encouragement, and the freedom to grow with confidence. Through self-paced learning, hands-on projects, personalized guidance, and strong parent collaboration, we aim to nurture curious, capable, and compassionate learners in an inclusive and diverse community.
Mémé’s Maison Academy was created from my personal experience as a homeschooling mother of three children. After seeing how traditional school environments can be challenging for many students — due to large class sizes, bullying, lack of individualized attention, and rigid learning structures — I chose to homeschool my own daughters. I wanted them to have a place where they could feel safe, comfortable, supported, and free to learn in the way that works best for them.
This microschool is an extension of that vision. Mémé’s Maison Academy is a small, home-based learning community designed for 5th grade students and up. In the mornings, students focus on core subjects such as Math and English Language Arts using agreed-upon curricula and individualized pacing. Afternoons are centered around History, Science, research-based learning, hands-on activities, and creative projects. Fridays are dedicated to reinforcement, enrichment, and elective-style learning based on student interests.
Parents are an important part of the learning process. Curriculum choices are discussed collaboratively with families, and parents will have a voice in their child’s education. My role is to provide structure, guidance, accountability, organization support, and help when students encounter difficulties, while also maintaining trackable progress and communication with families.
Mémé’s Maison Academy is committed to being a diverse, inclusive, and LGBTQ+ affirming environment where all students are respected and welcomed. Families who prefer faith-based curricula are also respected, and accommodations can be discussed individually.
Neurodivergent students, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, and autism, are welcome here. While I am not a licensed special education professional and cannot provide specialized therapeutic services, formal accommodations under 504 Plans, or intensive special education support, I strive to offer a patient, understanding, and supportive environment for students who benefit from smaller group learning and individualized attention.
This is an early-stage project beginning in my home, with the hope of growing alongside the needs of the families it serves. While I am not formally trained as an educator, I bring the experience of homeschooling, parenting, organization, and a professional background as a former pharmacist, along with a deep passion for helping children thrive.
